Got this at the lovely brewery in Brittany. A real beauty of a place this is. I was only disappointed I didn’t bring a bag lunch so the family could hang out there on the lovely deck and watch the river flow by over a few brews.
From a 750 into a snifter
Best before end 2017
APPEARANCE: Pours a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy, off-white head with great retention. Hazy maroon brown in color with medium levels of carbonation for the style. Head slowly fades to a full creamy cap. A splotchy wisp and ring remain until the end leaving some nice touches of lacing down the glass. Good looking brew for sure.
SMELL: Good nose of caramel, red fruits and bubble gum. Some melon in there as well with a dose of floral hops give it another dimension. Quality.
TASTE: Caramel and red fruits up front with melon sweetness and spicy yeast flavors at the swallow. Bold finish of sweet red fruits, spicy notes, bubble gum and fruity, melon hops linger on the palate. Some light floral bitterness adds balance to the sweet flavors and a touch of alcohol shows up as well.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit mouth-coating. Decent feel here for sure.
OVERALL: Quite nice. Lots of good flavor and a solid execution on all the details. This one might have been my favorite of the five different brews I picked up that day. A very solid amber ale with plenty of good stuff going on. Cheers guys!
