What is Greensboro Pale Ale? It’s a brew that hits the sweet spot between Pale Ale and IPA – just like our hometown of Greensboro hits the sweet spot between the coast and the mountains.
We start with Maris Otter and Vienna malts to get a firm, malty backbone with hints of biscuit and grassiness. A blend of six hops including Amarillo, Simcoe and Chinook contributes a satisfying bitterness and an intense aroma of citrus, flowers and fruit, accented by herbal and piney notes.

A Greensboro Pale Ale, the spot between PA and IPA, this pours a darkish yellow with a serious sustained head. A hop heavy aroma, with a more fruity/citrusy than bitter taste considering the abv level. Mouth feel and finish are top notch, tending towards slightly dry.

Big two finger plus head, pure white, mottled surface with slightly above average retention, the lacing more splotches than streaks. Fully cloudy yellow liquid, more opaque than translucent, lightens near the surface, allows you to see the tiny bubbles break the surface. The nose has a mild floral side but mostly bread crusts, pretzel dough, peppercorns, and white grapefruit pith, turns more leafy and dank as it warms, the pineapple, nectarine, apricot scents steady and not close to dominant. Medium to full-bodied, creamy and pushes outward consistently. The carbonation provides a broad and steady churn and adds to the fullness. The florality deeper here and the tangerine, orange citrus sweeter. More pine and honey and the breadiness even sweeter, like challah bread. Curiously, it’s up to the pineapple, papaya to nectarine, peach fruit to provide some tartness and spine. No herbaceousness nor grassiness. Cleaner finish than expected, resets well. Very sessionable and while easy to drink this is not a sign of a simple brew, well done.

Now available in cans in the Greensboro area. They aim for the sweet spot between Pale Ale and IPA and they hit the mark. Pours a cloudy yellow with a generous head that leaves nice lacing as it dissipates. Nice hoppy aroma. The taste is more citrusy than bitter. Just a nice drinking beer that does not overwhelm at 6%ABV.

Light and heady. Perfect blend of a pale ale and an IPA. Like a slightly hoppy pale ale.

This really does hit the sweet spot between IPA and a good pale. Pours a hazy Amber. Smells a biscuit with tropical citrus nose. Bitter upfront with grapefruit and then a smooth pine finish. Picked up a growler tonight after seeing them in Greensboro yesterday. Highly recommended and very good.

On-tap at Gibb's Hundred Brewing Co., Greensboro, NC
A: The beer is very hazy pale yellow in color. It poured with a finger high white head that gradually died down, leaving a short head covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrus are present in the nose—oranges seems to stand out in particular—along with some notes of grapefruit.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of citrusy hops, except that these are a little subdued and there are also some hints of piney hops. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is perceptible.
O: This beer definitely tastes like it was dry hopped with citrusy hops as they impart nice citrusy flavors without much in the way of bitterness.
Serving type: on-tap

Seems hoppy for a Pale Ale, but it is all citrusy, so smoother than most IPAs.
