I sampled this with a friend who is gluten free by necessity. Honestly, I am suspicious that any gluten free beer can be tasty. However, I am a fair man, so I gave it a shot.

It looks terrific - brownish copper with over a finger of head. The nose has caramel notes. The flavor surprisingly has a somewhat bready quality but there is also a wet cardboard note as well. The body is heartier than I imagined it would be.

I wouldn't call this great, but it was pretty good. It certainly exceeded my expectations.

DATE: April 11, 2023... OCCASION: more work at home completed on spring break, time to refresh with the long sought-after Aurochs--not endemic to New Jersey, but plentiful in Shangy's... GLASSWARE: Man Skirt willibecker... pours an iced tea amber brown consistency, bubbly and frothing into a creamy, off-white head... curious as to how the listed ingredients will create an "amber" profile, but the aroma has a perfumed, herbal quality with a bit of caramel, rusty pipe, and mellow tea leaves... not as impactful an aroma as others in the style, but again, quinoa and millet are not malts... readily drinkable, smooth and engaging with a bit of buzz at the teeth and a heartier finish than might be expected for a beer under 5% ABV... the flavor is likewise sweet and agreeable, exhibiting caramel, toffee, cilantro, and spicy hops that offer a surprise to what might normally be a malt-forward style... GF offerings struggle to approximate the expectations of glorious malts, but this takes a respectable approach by creating a more balanced profile...
