Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.
One finger tall light tan head, settles to a half creamy top that sits on a simple dark walnut brown body. Pretty straightforward.
Light grains, and quite a closed nose. Not much vanilla sense coming off of this either. Comes off clean, there might be a touch of sourness here though strangely, but it's a pretty quiet aroma with not much going on.
Palate doesn't really bring much to the table. Light bodied roast but quite a bit of fizzy almost getting into cola like body. Faint hints of coffee and roast on the finish, and just a hair touch of vanilla barely bring the beer back to its original description, and then some sugar drink soda sweetness in the end.
There is a faint vanilla touch but even as a basic porter it's quite lacking in body and flavor. Comes off like a sessionable dark mild with little flavor as well, but easily drinkable.

Picked up some tallboys at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. Big head would be money if it lasted but instead melts slowly into thick white cap. No lacing. Toasted and caramel malts, with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and spicy hops.
This is flavorful, with relative balance, especially in the finish and aftertaste. The texture could be a touch stiffer. It's getting towards porter season and this is getting me properly motivated.

Poured from 16 oz can into 16 oz tulip. Still had room to taste without spilling.
Looked like a very dark ale. Very little head, no lacing. Smelled light malts, a tad chocolate.. maybe some licorice. Tasted fairly bland. Like the nose, I wasn't really getting any vanilla, and what I kept thinking might be vanilla at 1st pour, actually turned out more like a slightly bitter black licorice as the beer warmed.
Overall, I wasn't disappointed in this beer, given the low ABV.. but I wasn't wowed in any of its factors either. I'll most likely not revisit, unless it's an only choice in a pinch.

Nice tasting easy to drink Porter. The brewery is in a location perfect for tasting their beer.

It is a very good tasting porter. Lots of malty goodness with not very much hoppy-ness. The vanilla really comes through and complements the malt flavor. The carbonation is a downside to this beer. I feel like I'm swallowing as much carbonation as beer.

Not really getting much vanilla with this one. It's an inoffensive porter but without anything much to recommend it. Not really much to say about this beer.
