Pours fairly black, with a small, fluffy beige head.
Smells of maple, blending into milk chocolate, licorice and rock sugar. This finds its balance in an earthen toastiness, which does produce a faint walnut quality.
Fairly thin mouthfeel, with a nice silkness to it, which gets roughed up by a cloying sweetness in the finish.
Tastes of a nice blend of melted milk chocolate, with some dark chocolate, cocoa qualities at its back end, on which sweet maple syrup becomes noteable. Toasty malts and a leafy dryness provide a pleasant, earthy counterpart, which gets washed away by a lively, slightly metallic carbonation after the swallow. This brings more sweetness to the palate, minus its initial maple quality, which gets replaced by rock sugar.
Quite sweet, while this lacks some balance to make it appear interesting on the tongue. Walnut is very subdued, plays a way less important role than the syrup and is almost invisible within the toasty malts profile of the beer.
