We are CANticipating CANother scorcher of a day & I am drinking Lager-style & fruited CANned beers in an effort to beat the heat. I have been (mostly) homebound these past four/five weeks following a prostatectomy & it has given me the CANportunity to sift through the backlog here at Chez Woody. I have uncovered all sorts of beers to CANstitute brewery horizontals, but today is just going to be odds & sods.
From the CAN: "Pennsylvania's Hardest Working Beer"; "Farmhand Series"; "Nothing worth doing is easy. This Pilsner was crafted with a blend of German hops and premium pilsner malt. The prefect reward after a long day of working the land."; "IBU[:] 25"; "Farm Made In-PA".
I was anxious to get this party started since it has only gotten increasingly hot over the course of the day. I have taken several naps, drank cold water, stripped nearly naked & now I am just drinking beer! Phew. Once the vent was Crack!ed open, the next step was a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into my fave Pilsner glass. I watched in rapt fascination as it foamed up to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention. Color was a pretty Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a pronounced biscuity maltiness underlain by a grassy Noble hoppiness. Mouthfeel was medium, but very soft, which is surprising since our area is known for having hard water. The taste remained more malty than hoppy with a nice biscuitiness underlain by a pleasant Saaz hoppiness. This is the sort of beer that I could simply drink all day! Finish was semi-dry & highly refreshing. Mmm.

Pours a hazy straw golden, the color is on point but the haze is a little much for what I am looking for in a pilsner. It's kind of got a Bohemian/Czech pilsner yeast presence to it. Not yogurty, but that Czech yeast character is present. It has a little bit of spicy hop character, but I want more. I find myself underwhelmed by this.
