Poured from a pint can into a Nonic pint.
Pours dark brown but clear with a root beer float foamy head. Retains quite well. Good lacing.
Aromas of caramel malt, toasted malt, dark sugar, chocolate, mild coffee, toffee, cashew, and hops. Pretty complex and inviting.
The brew hits the tip of the tongue with predictable caramel and toasted malt sweetness, perhaps a bit moreso than should be. However, in midstream it subsides in favor of welcome subtle flavors of cashew, mild coffee, cocoa, and rye. The finishing flavors are very mild earthy hops and some dark chocolate.
The brew has good carbonation, which offsets a somewhat beyond medium body. Pretty drinkable for the style.
Perhaps my favorite offering from this local brewer. Pretty solid across the board.

my first beer from these guys is a tasty nut brown, a little light in body, but i suppose that gives it more appeal around the calendar. nice frothy head on the pour, clear amber brown body, lots of bubbles. aroma and flavor have a nice chocolate malt profile and a little more complexity than a lot of these. there is an english type crystal malt sweetness in the middle too, a bran or bready taste, and an honest raw almost character that really puts the nut in nut brown here. light caramel sweetness and dry cocoa towards the finish, a good rush of carbonation thats high for the style but nice in this one, and a nice aftertaste of all the malts together. this is simple beer, but its well made and very drinkable with the lighter body. the conception these days is that to be a great beer it has to barrel aged adjunct stout or a wild ale, but beers like this help me keep the faith in the industry. i love a well made, to style, classic beer, and that is exactly what we have here. curious now about what else these guys make...

This beer pours a nice brown color. The head was insanly thick, way too much so. It is frothy and off white.
The nose is slight. I do get a slight malt aroma.
The taste, after getting through the head, is pretty rich tasting. I'm not a fan of nut brown ales, but this pretty good. Slight sweetness.
Feels pretty decent. Not too thin.
Good choice, except for the over carbonation.
