The beer was very black with a bit of a tan head and nice lacing. Nice cascade of bubbles from the nitro.
The beer smelled of roasted malt, a bit of smokiness and sugar.
The taste was on the sweeter side, but that is no surprise as they add lactose during the secondary fermentation. Lots of roasted goodness and a bit of subtle hopping. Still, the sweetness keeps pushing its way forward. Very subtle smoke flavor as well, but that may be due to the way they treated the malts.
Very smooth motuhfeel with excellent carbonation. A little to sweet to be a session stout, but still a nice beer.
