Thanks to GbVDave for the growler, and the accompanying snack prepared by the brewmaster to specifically compliment this brew- "Chipotle Chocolate covered Bacon". I have to say, at first I was quite skeptical, but it ended up being a perfect addition to this brew.
Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights around the edges. Not too much head forming, which isn't a surprise. Although this growler is only three days young.
Aromas of roasted malt, espresso and a bit of caramel maybe. The same following in the taste- great roasted notes complimented by some chocolatey flavors and coffee.
This is scarily drinkable! Dave! Why didn't you warn me that it was 7.6%? After splitting a growler of this and a splitting growler of Opa Opa's DIPA (11%), combined with a couple other brews, I'm surprised I wasn't on the floor.

Served in a pint glass at Lunar Brewing 2/23/09.
A: Served a deep, dark, porter-black color with slight reddening at the edges. Small one-finger, bright-white head leaves virtually no lace.
S: Heavily roasted malts as well as notes of espresso, burnt brown sugar, and more coffee grounds.
T: Fantastic roasty flavors. Roasted malt, espresso, and pan seared caramel. Hints of brown sugar, as well.
M: Pretty dry and toasty. Very nice levels of stickiness that help the flavors develop long into the finish.
D: Almost too easy to drink. If you like roasted malt, this is it.
