This beer is big, malty, slightly fruity, and high in alcohol. The higher alcohol is a result of the icing process where a portion of the water is frozen and removed from the beer. This one spent 3 years in American oak wine barrels from the Smith-Madrone Winery in Napa Valley. Look for great vanilla and coconut notes from the wood. Brilliant dark ruby red in color. Served in a snifter. Champion in the Winter Beer category at the Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
