Hops are the predominant characteristic in this "Double IPA." Over twice the amount as compared to our standard IPA. Reddish-copper in color, this hop monster is a hop head’s delight.

Nitro version on draft at the brew pub
Beautiful bond white head. Nitro adds so much to the presentation.
Piney hops on the nose. This is decidedly old school west coast executed wonderfully. Huge malt with piney resin bitterness. Superbly creamy.
1st day on draft. A true delight

Another beer consumed at the Bistro 10th anniversary double ipa fest, Feb 6, 2010.
Pours an orange and copper color indicative of a heavier malt ipa. Aroma comes off like a Simcoe and Cascade tag team, grapefruit and bitterness.
Taste is much the same. All that 120 ibu commercial tug job claims come to fruition. Its bitter and crystal malty. Hops remain bitter and heavy on the grapefruit. This was kind of that proverbial one trick pony ibu war beer. The bitterness and alcohol remain pronounced through the entire serving. Very similar to Marin's Hopsickle? I can't remember the name of it, but it was also one of those 100+ ibu beers that delivered grating bitterness and almost all of the citrus impact from it is grapefruit.

Served in a shaker pint at the brewpub, Glacier Brewhouse's DIPA is a dark, dull gold with a white head that leaves nice lace.
Smell is pungent hops, citrus, cat-pee.
Taste has a strong hoppy bite, citrus, spices, a bit soapy. Not as malty tasting as it looks.
Mouthfeel is oily and chewy, but not heavy in the the belly.
Drinkability is pretty good. I prefer lighter, brighter DIPAs, where as this was a bit more on the bitter, thicker side, but enjoyable nevertheless.

I guess this is what I had at the brewpub today. There's no mention of the name Leviathan; the website simply notes they have a DIPA, but the 8.5% abv. is right, and as it's apparently the only DIPA they make, I assume this is it.
The beer pours an amber orange color with pretty good head retention and lacing. On the nose I get the prototypical DIPA nose, with plenty of fruity malt interwoven around some pretty serious hoppy, citrusy, bitterness. On the palate this is textbook DIPA all the way, with some moderate sweet maltiness balanced nicely by a wave of hoppy bitterness. There is some noticeable alcohol, but it's not overwhelming, and this DIPA is really pretty well balanced. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and drinkability is pretty good.
While nothing earth shattering, this is still a pretty decent, pretty solid DIPA. Could easily see myself ordering this one again.

On draft, this was a rich copper color with a light pinkish head and moderate lacing. Nose of floral and citrus hops, and a smooth and clean mouthfeel. Flavor is dominated by the citrus, and there is a satisfying and nicely biter finish. A well balanced and quite drinkable IPA.

Very hoppy, citrusy and a tad spicy. My taste buds were pleasantly fried, so alot of the beers I sampled afterwards were a bit muffled from the lingering bitterness. I really enjoyed it and I would drink it again, but I couldn't imagine drinking more than 1 or 2 in a sitting.

the glacier brewhouse double IPA is a good treat. The beer pours a transparent red-brown with some orange tints. Fluffy white head that retains quite well. Super floral and citrusy nose with spice or coriander. the taste is of citrus orange and grapefruit hops. suprisingly floral, maybe some cascades. Very hoppy and bitey with some spiciness and a citrus bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is good silky and not to thin. Good drinkability for a DIPA, but a little bitey to have more than a couple. Its no cohoho but its good.
