A high gravity triple bock finished with a second pitching of ale yeast and red raspberries. Crisp lager notes blended with big raspberry flavor. Dark ruby color. Served in a snifter.

not sure if all of this is aged in barrels or not, but the edition i had was done in heaven hill, wow, definitely by far the most ambitious of the beers i had from these guys while i was in town. its a big old strong bock type base, done with a ton of raspberries and packed with high end whiskey character, impressively well made for a brewery i had never heard of before, really dynamic in taste, truly unique i think, hard to do these days! a deep ruby glow to this in the right light, but more medium brown and a little haze from the tap, under a short but stocky and lasting off white head. the nose is awesome, tart ripe berries authentic and real coming out first, warming alcohol there behind them, and a whole heap of malt, ranging from caramel to toffee to baked bread, baking chocolate, and maple syrup, lots going on, still some sugar, but immediately appealing. not sure if i can really pick it out as a lager here, or even when i taste it, but at this strength it matters less. the flavor is great, massive cohesion between the fruit and the malt, a baked raspberry pie vibe, raspberry cordial with the booze, warming and decadent but not diabetic, i think this would be ideal for holiday time. love the bourbon character too, adds an elegant richness to this, and the oak is so unifying with hints of vanilla and wet earth. lots of body and a long stay on the palate after each sip is more than welcome. great idea and execution, it immediately puts these guys on my map!

Reviewed from my brewery-filled corni at home, and compared with my [consistent] notes from drinking it on draft at the brewpub.

Appearance: Bright crystal deep red, moderate pinkish-red-white head, moderate to significant lacing.

Aroma: bright fruit and sweetness.

Taste: Full of fruit and sugary sweetness. Almost no alcohol taste until the finish, when there is a little tingle, but amazingly easy drinking for 10%. A slightly flat taste somewhere in the middle there, but not too distracting. It's crisp and all about the raspberries: no hop taste to speak of.

Mouth: Moderately thick, limited alcohol warmth when you look for it. Moderate carbonaton carries what would otherwise me really damn thick.

Overall: excellent, easy to drink yet complex. It's a crowd pleaser, but also fun for the beer geeks.

looks like a frambiose, maybe a little more dark and hazey, and smells like raspberry sorbet. the taste was a wonderful mix of berries and hops and malts, balanced perfection. the mouth-feel is just as nicely balanced such a shame that most non-alaskans will never know the joy of drinking this beer. the drinkability is awesome, a frat-boy would easily chug this to impress his drinking buddies, but not only because of the content, but because it's much more enjoyable, take your time and savor this one.

This is a great offering from the brewhouse.

Pours a cherry red, with slight haze. Good light pink head with little lace. The nose is of wild alaskan raspberries. smells very similar to the raspberry wheat, but much stronger. The taste is of raspberry sorbet or ice cream. slight bite on the finish, but mostly from mellow tartness of the wild raspberry taste. The mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy, this really is like melted ice cream. A wonderful treat that is incredibly drinkable. The 10% abv is not even noticeable. Great raspberry flavor. Im getting a growler (which im suprised they offer of this) for xmas eve dinner party. Great brew.
