Our award winning oak aged oatmeal stout is specially aged in used oak barrels acquired straight from the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky. The barrels impart flavors of vanilla, bourbon, coconut, chocolate, and more. Served nitrogenated for that extra smooth mouth feel. This Bordeaux of beers goes great with a wide assortment of meats, rich pasta dishes, and desserts.

Draft at The Bistro. This is a Jim Beam barrel aged oatmeal stout.
For an oatmeal stout, this is deep black and totally opaque. The black body is capped by a lasting tan head.
Really nice mellow whiskey aroma. Caramel, oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, raisin. Wonderful, hard to imagine the style getting much nicer.
Taste is good, but the barrel is somewhat overwhelming. Medium-light body, pleasant mellow whiskey flavors that bring caramel and vanilla. Fairly oaky, tannic, roasty. Finishes dry with an oatmeal cookie flavor that sticks to the tongue along with a light roasty astringency and slight heat.
With a bit more body this would be amazing. As it stands it's still a great beer, low in alcohol but incredibly flavorful.

16 ounce pint, on tap at the brewhouse, $5.25.
Appearance: deep black, opaque, with a nice medium brown head that leaves moderate lacing. Very, very nice.
Aroma: Vanilla and tangy sweetness, but a little undistinguished. It hints at what is coming, but doesn't blow you away.
Taste: Now, this blows you away. Vanilla, roasty sweetness, full and tangy, no noticeable hops, just hints at oak earthiness, and a deep warming vanilla sweetness. Very simply, delicious.
Mouth: Thick full and slick, delicious, moderate to high carbonation for the style nicely balances the thickness.
Overall: Immensely, frighteningly drinkable, both for the style and in general. Another outstanding beer from an outstanding brewery and an outstanding cast of brewers.

Served in a snifter. High gravity and very smooth. Complex flavor with the whisky being noticeable. Not strongly hopped. Pleasing aftertaste almost like a cream sherry. This beer has more in common with Imperial Russian stout than American stout.
Aged in wood (whisky barrels) and available on a limited basis. I tasted this during the "Twelve Days of Barley-Wine" last December.
Glacier Brewhouse has some very good every-day beers and some really exceptional specialty brews such as this one.

This was an amazing beer from an impressive brewpub. I saved this for my last beer of the meal to go with my apple tart. Pitch black with a good head. The first thing that hits the nose is hazlenut cappuccino, wood and bourbon. The flavor starts off with more cappuccino with a hint of vanilla, wood and bourbon. Actually the bourbon is more than a hint. It meshed amazingly well with the dessert. The richness of the beer makes it best in small amounts, but the half-pint I ordered was just about perfect. One of the best beers I've ever had.
