Helles, meaning “light” in German, is in reference to the beer’s color only as the strength of this style is substantial. This straw-blonde lager is similar to a pilsner but is slightly maltier and slightly less hopped.Kenny Lagers is easy to drink and extremely refreshing. The name is an homage to Lyon & Healy, a company now known for making harps, that used to manufacture reed organs and pianos on Harmonia Road, a short drive from our brewery.

Pours a gold color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of grains with floral notes. Taste is tangy, crisp and dry. Not at all hoppy. Very easy drinking.

I'm trying this at the brewery. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had faint grains. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with good grain and malt mix. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

This was the first in my flight during a recent trip to Territorial. This beer features a white head that is foamy in appearance and dissipates rather slowly to a very thin lacing. The beer looks to be moderately carbonated with small bubbles rising at a moderate pace toward the surface. The color of the beer is a light golden color and is clear. 4/5 The aroma of the beer is very pleasant and slightly sweet with notes of buttered white bread, cereal grains, and a light caramel giving way to an undertone of grassy and herbal hops. 4/5 The taste of this beer is very much like that of the aroma with a slight caramel sweetness leading off but then disappears, allowing for the buttered white bread and cereal grains to really come through. Grassy and herbal hops help round off the beer, cutting into the sweetness and balancing the flavor profile. There is a light bitterness on the back end of the taste profile that lingers slightly upon swallowing but this bitterness does not linger long. 3.75/5 The mouthfeel of this beer is very much like that of a Czech Pilsner in that it is light but also somewhat viscous and smooth. This beer is not overly dry and has no lingering dryness after swallowing. 3.75/5 This really is a very good Munich Helles Lager and is an easily sessionable beer that can be paired with many different foods, or not paired at all for that matter. Very good balanced between sweet and bitter, and only a pleasant dryness . 3.75/5

August, 2023 - The abv has decreased from 5.7 to 5.3, and so has the flavor. I'm dropping this from 4.25 to a 4.0 rating. It's still a very tasty beer.
July, 2025 - The ABV is up to 5.6% and so is the flavor. Rating is too - 4.25.
