Finsterschaf resembles a British dark ale, but looks can be deceiving. It has a clean lager taste with very mild, bittersweet notes of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla.

I'm trying this at the brewery. It a nearly opaque dark...still had a rich ruby center...with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of vanilla bean and roast. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet malt front with slight coffee finish. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.
