Doppelbock barrel aged with maple syrup.

Armer Ritter means "Poor Knight" in German. It's also a name for French Toast. This big Bockbier has been aged for months in oak barrels with maple syrup. This 2019 version features a different balance, being less sweet and strong than the original 2017 version. We hope you like it just as much, if not more!

Taste: woody, semi sweet, maple, malty, some boozy notes, red wine character, bourbon too. Same with the nose. Dark amber hue, mostly clear, tan delicate head. Medium/full body. Complex.

09/20 Update: The maple and bourbon characteristics have faded, and the beer seems a bit drier from what i remember from the last time. Aging in a bottle at 45 degrees has not improved this beer. If you bought a bottle at the time of the release, now may be the time to drink it.

Had this on tap at the brewery. Equal taste characteristics of the Dopplebock, maple syrup and the bourbon barrel flavor. A somewhat dry finish. Well done.
