Canned 3/18/25
Well, this isn’t ideal freshness for a Brown Ale with maple syrup, but I bet it’ll still be good regardless. I threw back the rest lf these last spring and forgot I still had one hidden in the back of the fridge. Let’s crack it open and see what it has to offer
Pours a cloudy brownish orange with 2 fingers of creamy light tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing. Some particulate floating about
The maple is still very much present in the nose, a bit sweet but it works with the base. I’m picking up on aromas of maple syrup, toffee, pumpernickel toast, black cherry, cocoa powder, brown sugar, walnut, and light earthy hops
It’s even sweeter in taste, likely a product of its age but it’s still damn solid. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting maple syrup, raisin, molasses, brown bread, toffee, cocoa powder, and light vanilla bean. The swallow brings notes of maple syrup, molasses, walnut, pumpernickel toast, toffee, black cherry, raisin, and a touch of oak
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes bone dry despite the sweetness and drinks below its abv
Even at nearly a year okd, this one is killer. Color me surprised

Very sweet, but expected. Nice beer by fire pit on cool summer evening. I don't usually like "maple" beers, but this one works. Often wondered if sap would make a good beer, but figured it'd be a little tricky. This place got it right. Brown Ale definitely the right choice!

Very light on the maple flavor. Note this is maple sap, not maple syrup! Overall a very well done brown ale but a touch more maple might make it a touch better.

On-tap at the barn on a 90+ degree day and pretty crowded since it’s the day before July 4th. Been waiting to try this one for a while since I love ABAs and real maple syrup. This has everything you want in the style, especially that sweet malty nose, but with a delicious maple flavor in the flavor and finish. Not great for this hot summer day but still seriously tasty and obviously well-crafted. Not cloying at all, this could be a better breakfast beer than a stout!

I found this brewery completely by chance. I saw a hand painted sign with a hop cone on it in my way to Proclamation Brewery. I knew I had to stop on my way back...I did. After driving half a mile through the woods on a bumpy dirt road I found a quaint little farmhouse and an old tilted barn as advertised. Once inside the barn I ordered a taster which consisted of Peep toad APA,Brew fest DIPA, and Pour Sap. I purchased a 750ml growler. He brews this brown ale with maple sap from his trees on the farm in the place of water. The result is something amazing. This is quite possibly the best ABA I have ever tasted.
