Canned 2024/08/20
Pours a fizzy bubbly 1 finger head with fair retention, a bit of lacing, crystal clear pale straw golden color
Nose brings that Kiwi hop goodness, a bit of a musty citrusy fruit, lemon zest, into a funky white wine grape skin, bordering a tropical fruit note, floral, and a touch of cereal grain
Taste brings more of the same greatness, Kiwi hops up front with the Nelson grassy citrusy fruit, a bit tropical, lemony, lemongrass even, but lots of that funky white grape as if they made a white Concord grape, a bit of that cereal grainy malt base but not much, just enough to support the hops, light bitterness up front, dry crisp finish brings a bit more bitterness with a spicy hop note and lingering Nelson hop characters
Mouth is med bod, soft lager, crisp, med to a bit higher frothy carb
Overall pretty nice, decent base pilsner, but great characters from the hops

A nice somewhat unconventional Pilsner made with Nelson hops. Unfiltered and tasty. I had it fresh and on tap at the brewery, so at it's optimum! The Tilted Barn location is quite peaceful and was also pretty popular given it's remote location. A beer Zen moment for sure.

This is not a typical Pilsner. Although the beer is advertised as “lightly dry hopped”, there’s still plenty of bitterness in both the aroma and the taste.
Cloudy enough to create a white hue to the golden color. Small head and no lace.
Raw bitterness to the nose, similar to grapefruit rind.
The taste mimics the smell with plenty of bittering hop. The body is richer than most Pilsners but this is enhanced by the fine level of carbonation. Long aftertaste.
