look: three finger rocky white head with decent retention, beer is a clear golden to amber colour, vibrant carbonation in the beer.

smell: smells ok, more or less all hops, very dank, floral, pink grapefruit, orange, orange peel, slight vinous white wine quality to it, earthy, some white bread and biscuity malt, lightly sweet.

taste: i don’t really know where i’m at with this one, i’m not a big nelson guy but it’s growing on me i suppose, hop flavours dominate again, lot of white wine sauvignon blanc character, some orange and pink grapefruit, really floral and earthy, some biscuity malt and caramel, medium bitterness on the finish.

feel: light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, really dry, crisp, drinkable enough.

overall: man i don’t even know my opinion changes from one sip to the next, it’s decent, certainly interesting anyway.

Latest release from Wicklow Wolf, an other limited edition. (Endangered species No. 15)

New Zealand India Pale Lager with Nelson and Motueka hops, sounds exciting and exotic to me, a good hoppy lager is always welcome. Comes in the usual WW 440ml can, the hue is light blue in this case.

Top: forms an inch and a half of slightly off-white head, average retention into some patchy lacing which fades away slowly in about 5-6 minutes.

Colour: clear gold with just a hint of haze.

Smell: intense and fruity, passion fruit, lychee, peach, very inviting!

Taste: it feels quite light for a 6% ABV beer, although it’s full of flavours (follows the nose). Fresh, sweetish, extremely easy to drink. Light+ body, medium- carbonation. Some moderated pilsen-type bitternes at the end with some dry-ish finish. Pretty much what I expected from the genre and WW.

Summary: it was a mistake to release this at the middle of the winter, it’d be the ultimate refreshing summer hit. It’s an enjoyable, sessionable hybrid with a pocket full of flavours. A little bit more carbonation would make it even better. For 3€ it’s quite alright. Too bad it’s only a limited one... again... WW, why, why do you do that again?! Anyway, buy it as long as you can.
