Canned 10/09/18
Appearance - Pours dark cola brown with a tan, quarter finger width head that fizzes away fairly quickly, leaving a mostly barren surface. No lacing.
Smell - Caramel, maple, light earthen nuttiness and a faint hint of roast.
Taste - Follows the nose. Soda-like caramel and maple sweetness dominate the profile. Hint of chocolate. Hints of pecan nuttiness and roasted malt come through in the finish. Aftertaste lingers with maple sweetness and the hint of pecan hangs around. Light, boozy astringency on the back end once the brew warms... at 5.5%?
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Slick drinker, turns thin and dry in the finish.
Overall - Not terrible, but not good either. Much too sweet for my tastes. More off-setting roastiness would've been nice. One and done with this one.

This oatmeal stout pours coffee black with a reddish-tan 1 finger head that dissipates, rimming the glass hobnail tankard. The smell is coffee based with a wisp sweetness from the maple and a hint of roasted pecans. For an oatmeal stout, I find it a bit thin and watery, but still silky smooth on the palette. There's a heavy roasted flavor up front that seems to thin out the mild coffee, but finishes dry with a hint of maple, but can't seem to taste the pecan. A bit weak for an oatmeal stout, but easy drinking.
