2004 Vintage
Thanks very much to Ratman for sharing this bottle with us Saturday night. Poured a slightly cloudy dark brown color with a slight off-white head. Aromas of sherry, toffee, dark fruit and brown sugar. Oxidation is apparent. On the palate, this one is medium to full bodied, with the oxidation nicely integrated into the beer. Flavors of sherry, toffee, caramel and alcohol.

Vintage 2005
Pours dark brown, with crimson edging and clear. Carbonation release is cola-like and short lived.
What small head that developed quickly dissolved to nothingness, leaving behind a placid surface, with a faint bead scattered around the edge.
Aromatics are hugely laden with toffee laced with brown sugar and roast.
The roasted component is a bit odd, almost astringent and peat-like.
Hops are subdued in the nose, and alcohol is apparent, starting to head in a vineous direction. Faint notes of raisins and figs are starting to come forward.
The nose finishes sugary with some butter.
Body is sticky and a bit syrupy. Light carbonation and tack-like.
Pallet is residual -laden and loaded with malt. The malt pushes the beer into dopplebock territory.
Bitterness is firm, but it's a tough battle with the sugars, and loses out.
Fruity and tasty nonetheless, with cherry and citrus notes amongst the sugardaddy and malt syrup profile.
Finishes warming with some dark rum notes and a hint of smoke.
