Pours a clear, copper color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of sweet malt, hint of earthy malt, hint of yeast, and slight citrus hops. Fits the style of a Maibock. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, citrus hops, hint of pale malt, hint of roasted malt, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good aroma and body.

Appearance: Dark amber with minimal head and lacing. Easily the darkest Maibock I have ever seen.

Aroma: Sweet malts, a little fruit.

Taste: Just dandy. Hands down, the best Maibock I have tasted. Here’s the deal, though – this is awfully dark in malt style and taste to be a true-to-form Maibock. The brewer has taken some license here, and not only is that his perogative, but I like it! Gotta admit, however, if you’re after something like a German Helles Bock, this is not your beer. Gobs of sweet dark/chocolate/caramel malt flavor (but not roasty) and nice balancing hops. I would liken this beer to an American bock.

Mouthfeel: Medium body and carbonation.

Drinkability: Very easy to down a few of these, but it does have a bit of a kick.
