750ml into a goblet, batch #2

A - Pours a dark golden color. Very strong off white head formation. Very clear. Lots of bubbling.

S - Lightly scented - some pilsner malts and simple 2 row. A light amount of spicy notes, clove.

T - Starts off lightly malty, just a hair of pilsner malts. Very smooth. Brings in a strong fruity note, somewhat acidic. Almost seems oxidized. Some alcohol warmth in the finish. Finishes with a light clinging sweetness.

M - Moderate body, low carbonation for a tripel. Sticky sugary finish. Very smooth feel, no carbonation bite.

D - Smooth flavors - well integrated. The sour notes tend to overwhelm the palette. ABV is potent enough, sneaks up on you.

Its an okay tripel.

 

 

 

 

Batch # 4

A: Pours a dark golden color with a good head and ample lacing.

S: Has a muted aroma of dark fruit and spice. I expected a bit more.

T: Taste of dark fruit and spice, with a hidden bit of sweetness and a dry finish.

F: Medium body, smooth with a just a trace of the alcohol. Had just a bit of a sticky aftertaste.

O: Enjoyable and relaxing. I am not too familiar with this style but it was a good representation by a small Missouri brewer.

Picked this up at Macadoodles in Jane, MO

Batch#3 pours an effervescent caramel with one finger of pearl colored head. Decent head retention & lacing

S: Passion fruit, figs, & loads of pineapple

T: Huge pine apple sweetness, slight acidity too, plus Winesap apples & a bit of lemon up front. There's a bit of pineapple juice sweetness to this that is just dragging this down, nothing is balancing it out at all, maybe a bit of booze & dryness once warm, perhaps some cherry tartness as well. Finishes dry with acidity & pineapple juice sweetness, plus woody/ hops & some puckery notes & a bit of oakyness at the very end

MF: Fairly assertive carbonation, light bodied for the style & ABV, some acidity that isn't working at all

Drinks okay, but this is bit of a mess. I will try more of this places offerings, since I liked their saison alright...

Batch 2 - purchased at Brewery in Augusta. Bottle w/ cork.

A - Nice 3 cm pillow head. slightly cloudy golden hue.

S - Interesting smell. Spicy, a small amount of funk.

T - Taste is good, mild yeast spice, only a hint of the alcohol. You can really taste the yeast variant (Achouffe?) and the choice of Palm Sugar in the mix.

M - Medium body - slides down.

D - I enjoyed this beer - maybe a bit too much funk for me. But quite a nice surprise. As tripels go, a bit more yeasty esters than some, but interesting. Looking forward to more batches to compare.

A - Poured out a cloudy, golden-yellow color with a two-finger, thick, pillowy head of white foam. It left a nice rings of lace.

S - It smelled of spicy yeast, fruits and caramel malt.

T - This tripel had a nice spicy taste with hints of apple and pear. There was a sweet caramel malt backbone.

M - It was crisp and sharp with a dry finish. A light to medium-bodied ale.

D - This is a pretty good tripel. Nothing fabulous, but certainly worth a try.

Pours a cloudy, golden color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of tart malt, yeast, raisin, alcohol, and some apple. Fits the style of a Tripel. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with a high carbonation level. There is a strong tartness associated with this brew. Tastes of sweet malt, tart malt, yeast, and apple. Overall, a complex, tart, smooth, and highly carbonated beer.

Golden color with no head at all. It had a sweet and fruity smell to it. The taste matched up with that. I got apple - it was sweet and sour at the same time. I also got a real yeasty flavor as well. Good for this style but this is outside my ideal taste range.

From a corked and caged bottle (batch number 1), with a death cork to get outa the bottle, comes a clear amber brew with a thin white head. Still looks good in the Corsendonk tulip. Big 9% may be knocking down the head on this one.

Sweet Belgian yeast with candied fruit in the aroma. Dry quaff of sourish fruit with a touch of funk for the backbone taste. Almost like apple Champaign with the crisp and dry finish. Tasty brew, just a bit on the dry side and too subtle with the flavors. No hint of the strong alcohol, sipping well this fine Saturday with b-ball on the radio and ribs on the grill.

I recommend trying this brew - available at Square One downtown if you're in the area.

It is golden color ale that has nothing really for head or lace. It has a sweet and fruity aroma with a slight yeasty kick. It has an awesome spicy taste that is by no means underdone. There are some great fruity tones dry fruit and fresh fruit a like. It has a rich flavor. It has a full and thick body.
