Extra'd by great trader Chuck5315... thanks man! Batch 1 750ml poured into Unibroue tulip glass. Appearance is golden with generous fluffy head, great retention, and a ton of lacing. The smell features a nice dose of farmhouse funk which pairs with citrusy hops. The hop profile seems subdued here. Fruity esters present as well as yeasty tones. The taste starts sweet with significant malt profile. The malts almost remind me of a barleywine style with notes of molasses and caramel. The hops are present, but definitely hang around in the background and don't quite balance out the sturdy malt profile. The mouthfeel is somewhat heavy with medium to high carbonation. Overall, this brew features qualities of a saison, barleywine, IPA, and a tripel. Pretty nice combo of flavors, although I did expect more hops based on the name and presentation.

Orange-tan in color and somewhat hazy. Huge billowy white head had some staying power and left nice lacing.

Fruits come across first on the nose, with apricots, tangerines, pears, and a touch of pineapple all being notable. There's some notable floral hops aromas, although they are fairly subtle. Great biscuit malts follow close behind. Belgian yeast and a nice spicy clove accent finish it off. The aromas are complex and lovely.

Taste wise there's a bit more hops than the nose, letting you know that it's a Belgian IPA. Fruitiness is pronounced, flavor following the nose, with lightly sweet pears, pineapples, tangerines and apricots all making an appearance. Belgian yeast adds a nice tripely touch. Spices are plentiful and well done, with a light peppery quality to them. Bready malts give it a full flavor and provide balance. Overall I think it's a bit more like a Belgian IPA than a tripel, but it's a well balanced blend of styles no matter how you categorize it.

Body is pretty full and nicely carbonated, leaving a lightly bitter, lightly sweet fruity aftertaste.

I've been on a roll lately when it comes to finding new breweries to try. This offering keeps up my good luck and adds another great brewery to the list of delicious American beers. I'm definitely going to try more from these guys!!

review done from brief notes at a beer festival

A: cloudy white head. Amber yellow in color

S: Belgian yeast and beautiful hops scent. Decent malt backbone. Nicely balanced scent.

T: Nice. I dig it. Light and balanced. Perfect mesh of the two styles. Not over bitter but just right. Hops not to floral to wreck the yeast.

M: Great carbonation for the style as expected. Coats the mouth in a perfect bitterness. I wonder what the hops combo is? Got to have both american and european here.

O: Very very nice. I love the mesh of styles here. Outstandingly balanced and everything works well together.

Augusta Brewing Tripel IPA

A - Pours a golden color with some nice copper colors and some orange hints and a nice fluffy off white head. The bubbles are nice and dense and tightly packed and stand about 1 inch tall. The head is quite sticky. (4.0)

S - Aroma of cloves and some nice Belgian yeast notes. There is some nice malt backbone with fluffy fruit notes. Some apple notes and some pear juice notes as well. The IPA notes become present immediately and have a nice west coast feel to the nose. Grapefruit, tangerine and peach notes with some slight citrusy and grassy notes are very nice. (4.5)

T & M - The taste is a bit more hop forward than the nose. Dry and crisp with some nice citrus and grapefruit notes. There is also some nice hop juice sweetness present. After this there is some nice malt and bread like grain notes with some fluffy yeasty flavors as well. The finish is nice and dry with grassy IPA like hop character and great bitterness. I'm quite impressed with this beer the flavor is complex and delicious. Mouthfeel is dry and crisp with clean flavors fluffy carbonation. (4.0) (4.5)

D - Very drinkable and delicious great Belgian IPA. (4.5)
