this place is really cool, and this is one of the better beers they do in my limited experience. almost everyone at the bar was drinking it and talking it up, so i had to try a pint. its a slightly hazy brass colored brew with an average white head that settles slowly, and some visible carbonation popping up from the bottom. it smells a little yeasty, but the hop profile is fantastic. citrus abounds, with both bitter rind and sweet flesh of mostly orange and grapefruit, but there is another sweet element coming from the grain. instead of a big weighty malt sweetness, it seems more like a mild honey thing, flavorful not just sugary, and in the flavor, it really is totally resolved by the finish. usually i dont like grain sweetness in hoppy beer, but they have used it uniquely here, and it flatters the hops. some oils from the hops in the texture, and less bitterness than it smells like it will have in the finish. well layered but clean, and fuller bodied but still refreshing with upbeat carbonation. a little different than the standard american pale ale out there, this is a very tasty and sessionable brew with a unique hop flavor and mouthfeel. recommended.
