A Polish attampt at a Belgian Tripel, using Belgian yeast and with some added coriander and another herb. Bottle looks excatly like a Belgian tripel, and I actually thought it might be Belgian. By far the cheapest Tripel I have ever had, at under a pound.
Farly good head level and foaminess, but it dies down fast, deep colour. Strong christmassy aromas of coriander, orange, lemon and Polish mocne malt.
The added coriander and what appears to be orange peel from the ingerdients, really domiante what is positive about the flavour. The hops are also fairly noticeable, however thee is a syrupy mocne malt flavour, as found in Warka/Tatra/Perla Mocne beers, that dominates. Mouth feel is quite thin and lacks efferfescence on the tongue, body and fullness, though there is at least some hoppiness and orange peel in the aftertaste. Tastes much more like a Polish mocne with added coriander and orange peel, than a premium Belgian tripel.
Without the orange peel and coriander it would get a much lower score, and personally I tend to side with the German purity law that the only ingredients in a beer whould be barley, water, yeast and hops. For me the hops and Belgian yeast isn't enough to overshadow the mocne syrupy flavour, so I'm not a fan. Considering the price though, it's kind of ok.
