Browar Van Pur S.A. "Galath Extra Strong"
500 ml can coded "E07-10-2026 1137LD078025280". Sampled on 21 November 2025.
Notes: Brewed with corn as an adjunct, and utilizing both regular hops and hop extract.
Look: Surprisingly dark amber in color beneath a short head of white foam. Limited head retention and lacing.
Smell: Clean. Malty with a smear of hops and no sign of alcohol.
Taste: It remains mainly malty but there are more hop to it which are mainly herbal, and there is some alcohol present. It's just lightly caramelish. A moderate bitterness balances it and it finishes mainly dry.
Feel: Medium bodied on the fuller side and moderately carbonated for a smoother mouthfeel.
Overall: As far as European strong ales go it's not bad. Nor is it particularly good. The alcohol seems to be the point of interest here but at least it's not badly done.
