The traditional and rustic character of the farmhouse gets an American make-over as the character of domestic pale ale becomes home for all its funk and fauna.

The Surrealist is burnt orange in color, but shows deep honey amber density through the center. Above a fluid and creamy eggshell stain floats the earthen waft of burlap, cork, attic woods and damp basement with a bright weave of orange peel and grapefruit. Yet, its taste is cleaner with steely caramels, peanut skins and slight toasted character.

As the sweetness relaxes, the beers more hoppy side begins to show wit the bright tang of pink grapefruit, vibrantly ripe orange, passionfruit and pineapple. Once the beer trends bitter with fresh grass clippings and freshly shaven pine, its earthy taste rises also with weathered oak, dried lime and a hint of sea brine.

The wild yeast provides a drier palate than the typical American pale and coaxes the taste toward a more farmhouse texture- powdery, tangy and pungent. As its earthy woods, sod and soiled character return in aftertaste, the medium-dry beer is a refreshing fusion of what Belgian-inspired beer can be in America's craft beer surge.
