To survive the late, hot, expiring days of summer, the heat, mugginess and malaise that they bring seem never ending. We're going to need a crisp, characterful, and refreshing beer to match. Enter Ethereal Brewing with their fancy-schmancy sour ale with exotic guava and mosaic fruit and hops.
Dog Days arrives with a foggy, peachy skin tone. Taupe to the eye, its creamy white froth casts a spider webbing pattern in its wake. Juicy with tart fruit, a funk-forward perfume, and a racy acidity enlivens the nose while its first sip carries a bounce like pop-rocks candy.
Malt sweetness swiftly drifts away and allows the funk, fruit and sourness to take command of the palate. Leathery citrus- lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine carry a radiant and juicy tropical taste along with a sense of dehydrated or dried peel. Guava takes the mind to melon, agave and an alluring taste of margaritas. Bitterness and sourness weave together for a tactile tandem of palate sensations that highlight the beer's fruit and herb dominance.
Clean, crisp and utmost refreshing, the beer is light and bracingly acidic. An after-palate of earthen funk chases the cannabis-laden hops into a short but complex finish. Dog Days shows tremendous complexity in a remarkably effortless package.
