Proud to be an American, it is Ethereal's God-given right to make a domestic pilsner styled lager; the kind that put a serious dent in the German pilsners that flooded America's early beer scene. Their American 'by God' pilsner might as well shoot off fireworks and recite Toby Keith lyrics with each and every pour.
Throwback comes with a medium straw hue and cast in a very light haze. As a gentle hop aroma of floral honeysuckle comes with apple and citrus esters and a crisp background of cereal and dough. Mildly sweet, the cereal flavors carry a little more weight with the likeness of corn, cracker and wafer.
The middle palate is short but sheds its sweetness quickly and ushers in a taste that's light with honey, green apple and lemon. Trending herbal and slightly bitter, the hops develop a pleasantly grassy taste of lemongrass, parsley and pepper. Its late palate is crisp with a hint of mint.
Medium light on the palate, the beer's texture dries to promote refreshment. All but a slight grain derived astringency ensures a clean finish and a highly drinkable attitude. A brief aftertaste of grass and grain dissipate quickly on the finish and await the next drink in quick succession.
