The two Lexington area breweries who have most embraced the haze team up for an imperial strength hop bomb of a beer with the hazy, dank, fruity and floral character to deserve such a name. Ethereal and Mirror Twin breweries haze is firing on all cylinders.
Danky McFruity Face pours a rich vegemite gold while applying a matte finish on the glass. Its broken froth casts a fruity, herbal and pungent hop cloud upon the nose with a tropical, woodsy, citrus, berry and herbal perfume. Rich on the front of the tongue, the malt sweetness is of honey, cookie dough and croissant in a malty taste upfront.
As the hops unfold on the middle palate, their identifiable and juicy character brings pineapple, mango and passionfruit while a citrusy brightness carries a bruised orange, lemon and pink grapefruit tangy flavor. Nuances of white grape, blackcurrant, gooseberry, grape and kiwi has a tangy and slightly vinous character before the moderately bitter late palate tingles with cedar, sassafras, hemp, geranium and gin.
Full bodied and modestly carbonated, the beer brings a slightly bulky texture that causes the beer to be slightly more laborious than usual for the verbose style. That gin-like spice sings a sprucy tune late on the palate as the ale trails with a medium long aftertaste of macerated fruit peels and rinds.
