So much more than just maple, this beer is like Aunt Jamima's bigger, badder and darker brother. The syrup influenced stout of Ethereal rests on a bed of roast in a long bourbon barrel slumber before making its way to a breakfast bar near you.
Jet black and patiently pulling a dense froth from an abyss looking stout brings an ominous appearance to Bourbon Barrel-Aged Aunt Hohmima. But the brightness of maple swoons the senses with a bright scent of breakfast with espresso. A spicy twinge of bourbon and all of its savory, sweet and peppery scents rounds the scent in anticipation of taste. But that sultry taste is slathered with maple soaked roast with molasses, coffee, walnut and coconut to start.
A rich coat of malt coats the mouth with the decadence of toffee, maple, molasses and caramel before the earthen roast of chocolate covered espresso beans and black walnut bring a robust offset to sweetness along with complex depth of char. As the sweetness relaxes just a bit, its the maple that outlasts other malt influences on the way to a vanilla, macadamia, and whisky fueled finish.
Lavishly full, luxurious and full of flavor, the strong breakfast overtones easily surpass all other, even stronger flavors to leave a devilishly sweet and savory aftertaste that's long and lush, along with a brush of bourbon to boot.
