Tight, succinct and nearly Berlinerweiss in nature, Ethereal's nondescript sour ale sings the praises of lactic acid in all its citrusy, cidery and winey glories.

Bergaflickle rolls out with a bright golden hue and only a slight haze. Sparkling with carbonation a dainty of quick foam builds ahead of those white wine, dry cider and lemony tart scents. A hint of worn balsa earthiness brings a sense of cork before a very light sweetness of sourdough, taffy and hard candies impress the early palate.

But any maltiness is short lived as the bracing sourness floods the middle palate with clean acidity. Its lemon and lime character brings a background nod to grapefruit, gooseberry, passionfruit, kiwi and honeydew. Its thirst quenching tartness leads into a slight bitter taste and a hint of peppery dried cork once more.

Light, crisp and highly refreshing, the beer's summery and sangria character is hardly remiss of beer, instead is better understood as a highly characterful wine spritzer, cocktail or cider; except for that light linger of sourdough to remind the senses that this is beer.
