just in time for all the fall food fests, Ethereal Brewing whips up a cherry Pie just for the occasion.
Arriving at the bar with a generous mauve hue, its hazy matte appearance is adorned with a dainty white crown. Bold red cherry aromas dominate the nose along with a light buttered pastry scent as the ale warms up a bit. With a moderately low sweetness gravitating toward the tongue, a mild toasted pastry taste is remiss of sourdough and cherry flavored taffy.
As the sour ale drifts across the middle palate, it looses its pastry roundness and the sourness of the ale leaves a trail of green apple, lime, lemon, cranberry, strawberry, rhubarb and currant close behind. Trending piquant and tart, the snappy and sharper taste of cherry provides a robust taste of stone fruit, pitted fruit and overall pie filling with very little in the way of bitterness.
Medium light in body, the finish brings back a mild buttered crustiness that was lost on the middle palate. Crisp, clean, acidic and quick on the palate, a short aftertaste allows only for brief echoes of cherry pie in an effortless afterglow.
