Like drinking a coconut candy bar, Ethereal Brewing isn't afraid to channel the kid in all of us with a tropical themed version of their famed Imperial Stout.
Jet black and shedding an onyx-like sheen onto the glass, a dainty creme swirl forms on the surface. Looking much the part of creamy espresso, a bold coconut and chocolate combination rolls from the rim to tease the nose with those candy bar notions. With a molasses, brown sugar and honey-sweet impression, the early palate is luxurious with malts and lavish with candied coconut and bittersweet chocolate.
With full saturation of the tastebuds coming strong to the middle palate, layers of grain sugars, chocolate, roast and heavy cream all form a cakey impression for the tongue. Fudgy, rich and elegant, a tease of spicy kahlua steps in for a hint of sherry, rum and whisky-spiced balance. A firm coffee bitterness closes the taste, framing impressions of coffee roast, charred oak and a hint of smoldering embers.
Full bodied and plush with both grain and additional sugars, hawaiian BabaYaga finishes chewy, sweet and savory with an off-cloying balance. Its a perfect beer to replace desert as it follows with a sweet and nutty aftertaste.
