Making waves in the Pale Ale scene, Ethereal whispers a taste of discord with a beer that's part hazy but also part crisp, refreshing and balancing dry and slightly bitter.
Dissonant Whispers kicks off with a milky lemon pour. As a foamy white crown adorns the rim, As its soft citrus and tropical perfume swoons the nose, a creamy scent of smoothie and herbal tea. A sweeter introduction to the palate reveals a soft grain profile of cereal, honeysuckle and light pastry dough.
As the hops unfold on the middle palate, the hazier taste of orange, lime, lemon, passionfruit, pineapple and papaya all come together in a calm fruit cocktail of flavor. Like a lighter sherbet or tropical smoothie, the hop profile is juicy before trending into a snappy flavor of tea, cedar, sassafras and verbena to balance the fruit and fading grain sweetness.
Medium light in body, the beer's somewhat subdued fruit intensity is matched with a lighter, drier and cirsper body that gives up some flavor but borrows a greater sense of balance, drinkability and refreshment, more than the standard hazy ale. This shy dissonance might actually unite the worlds of IPA.
