Seeking rarified air in beer making, Ethereal Brewing reaches for the haze. Capturing higher flavors in hops, their Imperial "hazy" IPA has us all seeing greater limits in hops.
Coming to the bar in a foggy and dimly lit orange, golden and peach blend that floats a frothy and lacy ivory cap. Leading with the perfume of tropical fruit, the beer also shares the scent of citrus, herb and orchard fruit. Moderately sweet to the early palate, a light pastry creaminess comes with agave, honey and faint caramel.
A quick shift from anything malty, the middle palate showcases an abundance of hops and their bold impressions of mango, apricot, nectarine and red grapefruit. As hints of lime, cantaloup and passionfruit bring a more balance and secondary layer of fruitiness, the beer starts to steer into a direction of peppery grasses, sun tea and fresh spruce.
Juicy, radiant and creamy, the beer's early plumpness trails into a moderately bitter finish with a crisper and more refreshing mouthfeel, sharing hints of tea, cedar and tropical fruit peels in a medium-long afterglow.
