Dry, bitter and make to taste like Pinesol. So why would anyone drink this stuff?
With a mind on the west coast but bringing a taste of the Pacific to Central Kentucky, Hop Drops pours with a mostly golden, lightly amber tinted haze. As a frothy cap builds, so does an aromatic potpourri of citrus, light tropical and herbal presence. Mildly sweet, impressions of honey, caramel, toast and nuttiness frame an impression of trail mix.
As the drying ale washes the middle palate, the flavors of citrus peels come way of orange peel and white grapefruit with a hint of pineapple rind for impressions of juiciness ahead of a fading malt base. Trending bitter, spicy and deeply resinous, the flavors of pine, pepper and dried grasses fade into a biting character of vegetal spice.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the session fades to a crisp and refreshing hop bomb with mild astringency and a long bitter grip on the gullet.
