Today's forcast- double cloudy. That's how things are feeling inside Ethereal Brewing as their normal cloudy days double down on the haze for a extra taste of tropics, nearly to candy-like proportions.
Double Cloud Candy pulls all the punches with the use of oats and milk sugars to create a foggy looking golden taupe with a frothy dense crown. As the scent of tropical fruit abounds along with a backdrop of citrus, herb, stone fruit and orchard fruit. As its candy sweetness coats the tongue with vanilla cream, oat milk, cereal and honeysuckle, the early impressions are creamy sweet.
Its doesn't take long for the hops to grow to not only meet the intensity of grain sweetness but to advance for a starburst of passionfruit, pineapple, guava, papaya and pawpaw. A racy citrus element of mandarin orange, white grapefruit and lime elevates the fruitiness while hints of kiwi, grape and lemon bring a nearly sherbet-like tanginess to the late palate.
As the ale shows tepid dryness in closure, the bitterness rises for a malty-dry and bitter sweet finish with an afterglow of mulled fruit, green tea, peppery grasses and light hemp.
