Come and listen to my story 'bout a girl named Kelly. A poor bartender puttin' beer in our belly... Beer that it, Liquid Gold, hop tea.
Coming out of Craft Beer Week with a beer designed by her, Liquid Gold comes with an expected diffused hazy golden glow and a stern white froth. As the billowing scents of El Dorado Amarillo and Citra hops flood the nose, notions of candied citrus, stone fruit and tropical fruits come to mind. Easy and smooth with its initial taste, a foundation of cereal, shortcake and honey is laid.
As the hops transfer to a fruity taste as well, a citrusy pop of tangerine and pink grapefruit are met with more tropical flavors of mango, pineapple and lychee. Additions of nectarine and apricot are wrapped in a cantaloup envelope to complete the juicy and fruity hop display. Trending balancing and smooth with bitterness, suggestions of tea leaf, peppery spruce, hemp and fresh-cut grassiness leave lasting impressions.
Full bodied, smooth and finishing spicy with gin-like botanicals, the imperial hazy IPA closes with fruit peels and fleeting sweetness to allow the hop flavor to dominate the finish and aftertaste.
