Keeping the fall flavors rolling straight through the cooling season, this Becky of a beer celebrates the valley girl in all of us.
Pouring a golden amber and reading much like honey to the eye, Basic shows to be more than just basic as it swirls with a vanilla wrapped sense of chai tea and a hint of caramel and citrus. Sweeter with the honey, caramel and near granola-like maltiness, its upstart is soothing with soft vanilla bean.
Soon after the ale hits the middle palate, the pie spices emerge with a restrained blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger that simmer gently on the tastebuds. As the sweetness drifts and the ale tightens int a drier and more drinkable session, a pep of hops give the finish a mild hoppy bite of spruce and citrus peel.
Medium bodied but trending dry, the session sees an arid finish because of the drying nature of hops and the warming spices that link up with alcohol for a surprisingly drinkable pumpkin spice ale that’s more than basic.
