Certain beers aren't for the faint of heart, but this isn't one of them. Laced with cotton candy sweetness and the dark berry of blackberry, this sour ale is about as palate friendly as they come.
Pouring a cloudy dark mauve, the pinkly frothed The Pussycat teases the senses with a candied berry scent that hints toward wine, cider and sorbet. Cobbler-like in its sweetness, the taste includes not-so-subtle nuances of taffy, sweetheart and cereal. With the sourness rising, the return of lime, lemon, white grape, green apple and gooseberry provide an undertow of acidity that highlights the blackberry and starts to downplay the candied sweetness. Trailing into a pixie-stick sweet and tart interplay, the finish is fruity, tart and candied still.
Medium bodied for sour but pretty light and refreshing overall, this pussycat is a tease to the palate like no other.
