Poured into an Ethereal Brewing tulip, 2025 vintage.
Pours a deep black with mahogany foam that persists for a while, very dark and almost reddish. Aroma is fruity cocoa with a huge hit of cinnamon and deep roastiness. Flavor is similar, a huge hit of molasses, light cocoa, and hefty cinnamon and brandy, with a long, sweet sticky finish. It skews rather sweet but moves to dark chocolate before finishing with raw sugar and spices. I get a little fudge and just a hint of bitterness, but mostly just big, heavily spiced rich flavors. I get a little red fruit and whiskey as well hiding behind the hefty brandy spices and the thick base stout. Feel is good, very syrupy and almost completely still, with a chewy mouthfeel. High body, this is thick as motor oil, but with no alcohol presence whatsoever and little heat. It's incredibly smooth, super easy to enjoy, and I love the relatively simple but very unique flavors. Finish is long, but not incredibly complex, as it really just moves between chocolate, brandy, whiskey, and a little roast.
Overall, this is an exceptional stout. The double barrel combination of Four Roses and amburana has mellowed out the base RIS and the spirit flavors are lovely. When I say it's approachable, I mean it in the best way possible. It's relatively sweet without being too cloying, the alcohol presence and burn is nonexistent, and there's nothing taking away from the perfect blend of spirit and beer. I didn't love the salted cocoa version of this I had on draft, but this version is truly a great pairing.
