Info from the brewer's board: Blonde ale brewed with Uganda Kabum coffee. 4.7% ABV 22 IBU
Mildly hazy, orange hued body; big, sticky, white head. Warm bread crust aroma. Toasted grains; oats and rye; tangy bitterness. Medium bodied; coarse on the palate.
What might be a rather unexciting pale ale offering comes through with a nice, subtle coffee touch mixed in nicely with a warm, toasty, cereal grain ale body. This review's tasting seems a little bit off from my initial sample tasted a couple of nights ago, yet it still has appeal. The Ugandan coffee isn't over-the-top and adds just the right touch of edge and uniqueness to the low-key cereal grain malt backbone. Based on two tastings experienced over the last three nights, I certainly hope that Fossil Brewing revisits this one over time.
