this was definitely my least favorite of the several beers i had here at fossil. they advertise new zealand hops in this thing, but for me the hop profile was somewhat minimal and nondescript. definitely not the tropical new zealand juice bomb i feel like i was promised from the chalkboard menu. its not a bad beer however, and has some things really working for it, but it felt like a tease. hazy pale yellow, almost looks like a wheat beer in the glass, with a sturdy lasting just off white head on it. aroma and flavor are about the same, maybe a hint of fruity hops up front that run into a wall of sweeter malt fairly quickly, and then a generic and plain sort of bitterness and cereal quality on the back side. it doesnt quite flow right, and the hops never really get over the hump of the malt in this one, although oddly enough i wouldnt call it malty either, just sort of muddled. i get flashes of the new zealand hops, but they are about half of what i would like them to be. alcohol is well disguised, but it really doesnt matter. a decent brew, but a little amateurish and not at all what they promoted it as. fortunately everything else i had here was awesome.
