Black body with a thick, dense and creamy head. Roasted grain notes with suggestions of chocolate. The taste reinforces the aroma with a tad more chocolate presence; nice spicy hop quality with a good bitterness overall. Medium body; fairly thick and smooth yet also having an IPA-like tingle on the palate; nice balance between a sweet and dry mouthfeel.
Black IPA or Cascadian dark ale, this is a very fine representation of the style. Rich and malty like an English porter with enough of a West Coast IPA feel to add distinction and taste buds appeal.
