I received this beer from the Cans BIF. I love peanut butter and beer. The quart of beer looks intimidating. The beer is from Horrock Market somewhere in Michigan. My first Railtown beer, let us get to the review. The beer is 48 degrees and served in a pint glass. A gentle pour produced a two finger medium tan head with good retention. The head is creamy and foamy as left some lacing on the glass as it slowly dissipated. The color of the beer is SRM 37 a dark brown nearly black and opaque. The beer has a beautiful appearance.
The initial aromas of the beer as I cracked the beer open was cocoa. Peanut butter comes off the beer as it settles in the glass. Additional aromas are dark roasted malts, brown sugar, molasses, burnt sugar, earthiness, graham crackers, and milk.
The first taste is delicious peanut butter and cocoa flavors. Dark roasted malt and bread flavors come next giving me the impression of a cocoa and peanut butter sandwich. Additional characters are earthiness, milk, brown sugar, graham crackers, milk, earthiness, and cereal.
The mouthfeel of the beer is creamy and rich.
The body of the beer is full, low carbonation, and a full finish.
This beer rocks. I got more of a stout profile instead of the thin porter style. I am not going to complain about it being a touch thicker. The beer has a sweet finish. The balance in the beer is worth noting. The char notes are not overpowering and placed in check. I am so glad that I got the chance to drink this beer. Thank you.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
