Cold Taxi is a Kellerbier brewed with German Pilsner and Munich malt, and hopped with an untraditional blend of American and Australian varietals. Young in age compared to our typical lagers, yet hop-forward and aromatic. Notes of fresh lemon, slight pine, bready biscuit malt, and underlying young lager quality.

16 ounce can poured into a tumbler.

Pale gold and sightly hazy with two inches of white persistent foam that leaves sticky clumps of lace. There is plenty of rising bubbles as well as small suspended bits of sediment. The nose is hoppy, fresh and light featuring lemon-like and floral aromas along with some white bread malt. Taste is much the same as the nose, brite and zesty with semi-sweet lemony citrus and floral hop flavors over a bready malt backbone. The mild, herbal hop bitterness rolls right into a dry-ish finish. Light-medium body with medium carbonation, it starts soft and crisps a bit at the finish. Refreshing and drinkable.

While I have never enjoyed a fresh German Keller I imagine this is probably a little hop forward for style. I asked one of Diamondbacks co-founders about this and he told me that it was definitely their American version of a Kellerbier.

In my opinion this is a good, easy drinking, hoppy lager that has been consistently good over the almost 3 years they have been packaging it.

Poured from 16oz can into standard pint glass. No date.

L: Cloudy gold, two finger white head has very good retention.

S: Grassy aroma up front, with some piney notes in the middle and finishes with a biscuity malt note.

T: Good flavor, some light herbal hops linger into a light biscuit note. Simple, yet well done.

F: Light, crisp.

O: A well done Keller.

Poured from the can into a pokal style glass. Lager canned? April 18th 2018.

Frothy rich forming head out of the can into the glass. Sticky amounts of lacing and a four finger bright white swiss cheese top. Nearly crystal body, but nicely plentiful carbonation amongst a slight amount of haze.

Lemon fresh like aroma, and nicely clean. A bit hop forward for a keller, but a nice amount of lemon herb, almost balm like in aroma. Good touches of bakery bready malt, almost crusty white in flavor. Real nice bouquet.

Interesting palate. Hop touches of almost new found IPA quality, a juiced and nearly syrupy mouthfeel that almost comes off like hop taffy. Herbal big mid punch with a fairly rich hop finish. Stinging touches of herbs and slight pine, with a bit of juiced tropics perhaps peeking out.

Very odd, as this hardly reminds me of kellerbier. It's seems almost like and India Pale Lager, and has a touch of almost boozier Imperial quality to it. A drinkable beer, even somewhat enjoyable, but not what I look for in this style.
