Speaks in Whispers is a bourbon barrel aged stout that blends together a medley of various roasted malts. We aged this beer in freshly dumped Willett bourbon barrels that had previously aged whiskey for over ten years. This blend features notes of baker’s chocolate bourbon, oak, and vanilla. We added several Madagascar vanilla beans to each barrel to round out and elevate the profile.

500ml bottle poured into a small tulip.
Vintage 2021
Pours clear and dark brown but looks near black in the glass. The quarter inch light brown head fades to a perpetual ring that grows back into a cap with every light swirl of the glass and leaves good lacing. A large malty nose has good barrel aroma along with vanilla, roast, chocolate, a touch of woody/earthy hops, some fruity esters and fleeting notes of soy sauce. Alcohol is there but is in no way harsh. Taste is as expected, and matches the nose, malty, medium sweet, restrained bitterness and good barrel aged flavor. The body is smooth, creamy and full to medium in weight. Finishes fairly easy with some warmth and has a good malty aftertaste. The barrel aged character really makes this one. Very nice.
