Copenhagen 22/9 2018. 75 cl corked bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. Label tries to look very monastery and Monk-ish with what looks like something like a crossbreed of a window and shield.
Pours clear, golden yellow with medium-sized white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam barely covering the surface of the beer. Clinging to the side of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is fruity and boozy and fairly intense. Sweet malts, Banana, caramel and a fairly strong boozy odor. Lightly metallic.
Soft carbonation. On the verge of being flat. Soft, flat texture.
Flavor is quite sweet followed by moderate, rough bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with light bitter notes. Lingers shortly.
This is not exactly an exciting take on a Belgian Tripel. It's relation to the Monastries of Northern France seems pretty far fetched. Way too sweet and fairly boring.
